For
most of us life seems very complicated at times, full of difficulties
and obstacles. For many of us this is the reality of our daily life
and we are at a loss as how to regain our balance and to experience
the joy and happiness that we experienced in childhood.
Modern life demands that we accelerate our pace of life. To do everything more quickly, and to do more in less time. We have developed a whole culture around tools to economize time, and yet we seem always to lack time. Take for example our means of communication. Originally there was only the spoken word and gesture, so we could only communicate directly with others. Then the written word came allowing us to send messages over long distances. In our grandfathers time this was by means of ships or trains and it would take weeks or even months to receive a response. Nowadays with the computer or telephone we can communicate instantly with anyone anywhere and with the mobile we are almost in constant reach. Our means of transport have also changed tremendously, from travelling on foot, on horseback or by canoe which limited our range, to ever faster means of transport so that nowadays in a few hours we can travel from one continent to another. All of these changes are amazing and have changed our lives beyond recognition. But are all these changes beneficial to us? All the wise ones of the past advised “Slow Down”. Take time to stop, to experience what is happening in our life and to see how different things affect us. m Bearbeiten hier klicken . |
